Multicoloured Victorian hall floor

This typical Victorian hallway had suffered damage to sections of the border and threshold.
The tiles although quite soiled with paint and adhesive residue, were generally sound.
Loose tiles were lifted and re-fixed. Damaged tiles were replaced with either original tiles from our stocks, or modern tiles, hand cut to fit.
The area was then grouted and cleaned.
Here you see the repaired area that had suffered most damage, and here the length of the hall, moments after it had been washed down.
Old tiles such as these tend to be quite porous, and so it is necessary to ensure the area dries before applying the polish or sealant.
The tiles will lighten in colour as they dry, and once sealed will darken down to a rich colour.
